Leaflets about BIOMER, biodegradable waxes avoiding microplastics

Logo BIOMER - biodegradable waxes

Bio based and biodegradable waxes (PDF) // The leaflet presents the BIOMER product family as biobased and biodegradable waxes. The products are a more sustainable alternative to conventional, non-biodegradable waxes while offering comparable performance. They are available with a biobased content of up to 100%, and their biodegradability is certified according to OECD 301/B. Depending on the application, the range includes micronized waxes, granules and fine granules, as well as emulsions and dispersions. Key properties include easy dispersion, surface protection, emulsifiability, water repellency, UV resistance, and easy dosing. BIOMER waxes are therefore suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

Emulsifiable biodegradable waxes (PDF) // The leaflet presents emulsifiable, biodegradable BIOMER waxes and shows how the appropriate product can be selected using the HLB value. The BIOMER range covers a broad spectrum from more lipophilic to more hydrophilic properties. The higher the HLB value, the easier the waxes are to emulsify in water-based systems. The flyer assigns the different products to suitable emulsification processes, ranging from high-pressure technology and autoclaves to pressureless emulsification. This makes the product range particularly suitable for water-based coatings and other applications where biodegradability and good emulsifiability need to be combined.

BIOMER stabilized bitumen (PDF) // The leaflet presents BIOMER waxes for the stabilization of bitumen and asphalt. The biodegradable waxes reduce viscosity and therefore enable lower processing temperatures. This saves energy, reduces CO₂ emissions, and can improve occupational safety by lowering aerosol formation. At the same time, the products optimize rheological properties and contribute to improved durability and usability. Depending on the product grade, BIOMER waxes are suitable for rolled asphalt, asphalt concrete, stone mastic asphalt, or mastic asphalt. Further benefits highlighted in the leaflet include flexibility, rut resistance, and temperature resistance.

Probably the hardest wax in the world, DEUREX EO 45 (PDF) // The leaflet presents the DEUREX EO 45 series as particularly hard oxidized HDPE waxes for demanding industrial applications. The product range is available in different delivery forms, including micronized grades, powders, as well as water- and oil-based dispersions. The portfolio also includes DEUREX EO 4519 ABS with an integrated anti-blocking system. The waxes are suitable for applications such as powder and liquid coatings, printing inks, wood coatings, and other surface applications. Key properties include high hardness, abrasion and scratch resistance, temperature stability, slip, water repellency, and PTFE-free formulations. BIOMER 129 is also available as a particularly hard, biodegradable alternative in several delivery forms.

Micronized coated waxes (PDF) // The leaflet presents micronized coated waxes that combine the properties of waxes with additional functional additives. Depending on the coating, different performance benefits are available: silica supports matting and free flow, PTFE increases hardness and slip, PEEK provides very high temperature resistance, and diamond coatings deliver extreme hardness. Different coating levels – from eco coating to double coating – allow the properties to be tailored to specific requirements. The products are easy to disperse, suitable for water and solvent-based systems, and can help reduce additive consumption and material costs.

Alternatives to micronized PTFE (PDF) // The leaflet presents PFAS-free alternatives to micronized PTFE. With BIOMER 129 M, the DEUREX EO 45 series, and the DEUREX K series, three different solution approaches are available. BIOMER 129 M is a micronized, biodegradable hard wax suitable for applications including powder coatings, liquid coatings, printing inks, and lubricants. The DEUREX EO 45 series is based on oxidized PE waxes and offers properties such as anti-blocking, abrasion and scratch resistance, and heat resistance. The PEEK-coated waxes of the DEUREX K series provide high temperature resistance, extreme surface hardness, and good abrasion and scratch resistance.

PEEK coated waxes (PDF) // The leaflet presents PEEK coated micronized hard waxes for particularly demanding applications. The products combine the properties of a hard wax with the high-performance polymer PEEK and are PFAS-free. They offer very high temperature resistance of up to 260°C, extreme hardness, and excellent chemical, wear, and abrasion resistance. Further benefits include very good slip properties, high fatigue strength, and stable electrical insulating properties. The DEUREX K 62 and DEUREX K 64 series are available as fully coated and eco coated versions and are suitable for applications including powder coatings, can coatings, furniture and parquet coatings, and lubricants.

Micronized waxes for price-sensitive applications (PDF) // The leaflet presents micronized waxes for price-sensitive applications. The portfolio includes different wax types such as PE, PP, oxidized PE, Fischer-Tropsch, amide, and hybrid waxes. Depending on the product, different particle sizes and performance profiles are available. The waxes are designed for applications where a balanced price-performance ratio and reliable technical functionality are important. Typical fields of use include printing inks, liquid and powder coatings, masterbatch, lubricants, and industrial coatings. Key functions include abrasion and scratch resistance, anti-blocking, slip, temperature stability, as well as matting and gloss effects.

Carnauba waxes of the DEUREX C series, probably the hardest natural waxes in the world (PDF) // The leaflet presents the DEUREX C series of carnauba waxes, particularly hard natural waxes for a wide range of industrial applications. The portfolio includes micronized carnauba waxes, water-based emulsions and dispersions, as well as biobased and biodegradable variants. The products are suitable for applications including paints and varnishes, can and coil coatings, printing inks, and food coating applications. Key benefits include easy dosing and incorporation, improved slip properties, as well as high hardness and gloss. Depending on the product, different delivery forms and particle sizes are available.

Very hard and low melting, the polyvinylether wax DEUREX V 02 (PDF) // The leaflet presents DEUREX V 02 G and DEUREX V 0222 M as polyvinyl ether waxes with a distinctive combination of a very low drop point and excellent hardness. The products melt quickly at low processing temperatures and solidify rapidly after melting. This enables the formation of thin, hard surface layers with a dry, non-sticky feel. At the same time, the waxes improve scratch and abrasion resistance as well as overall surface properties. They are suitable for applications including paints and coatings, paper and packaging, plastics, and rubber, and are available as granules or micronized wax.

HDPE Micro and its MASTERWAX compounds (PDF) // The leaflet presents DEUREX HDPE Micro 300 and the related MASTERWAX compounds for masterbatch and plastics applications. Thanks to micronization, the MASTERWAX 300 series has a significantly enlarged surface area, around 27 times larger than standard HDPE. This supports more even color distribution, increases color efficiency at lower dosage levels, and shortens dispersion time. At the same time, material consumption and machine wear can be reduced, while fewer extrusion steps may be required. The products are easy to dose and free-flowing and are also suitable for demanding pigments as well as thin-walled and visible plastic parts.

High performance lubricants for sinter (PDF) // The leaflet presents high-performance lubricants for sintering applications and powder metallurgy. The product range includes biodegradable and biobased EBS waxes as well as dedicated high-performance lubricants and powder mixtures.
